Okay, total rip-off of the writers' thread over in the Writing section, I know, but I thought it would be neat to have a place where we could put up random little things we found ourselves doodling on paper or on a computer. Y'know, just a "for kicks" fun thread where we can toss up ideas or nifty-bitsy jpegs. For example... Barry just started a thread about what we all do when we study, which reminded me of my less-than-productive attempt at studying for my Engineering Biology exam last night (which I had this morning, incidentally). I got a bit bored... and then a bit distracted. Barry, I would suggest trying to avoid this type of studying.

Cindy: Hehehe! That's exactly how I've been feeling going into my exams, too! Amit: Cheers! I think I should start being more decorative with my course notes. It would probably make for more interesting reviewing of them and I've heard that it can actually help you remember the material, too, if you do creative/personal stuff as you're learning it. An interesting theory I should test... Looking forward to seeing your pseudo-camera!

Greetings:
Oh. Artist's corner. Why didn't I think of that? (grin)
Alas... my artistic skills are not so great. I will have limited offerings to this thread. But I will eagerly await the works of others, either to inspire or dissuade my artistic yearnings.
Yours, Advent Chilhe,

... May I...? This might sound like a silly question... ... just in case I have a doodle somewhere in hard-copy form lying in a pile of notes... How do I get it up on the forum so people can actually see it?

Sorry for the late reply, Velata! Step 1: ScanningIf you don't have a scanner at home, you have a few alternate options. First, if you have a friend who has a scanner, you might want to sidle up and ask if you could have a go with it. Alternateively, if you go to a photocopying shop (there are several on College St) they might be able to scan stuff for you. Barring that, CP must have access to a scanner somehow, although I don't know the details myself; perhaps you'd be able to use that? Maybe ask Bev or Jen? Step 2: Uploading the image to the internetOnce you've scanned the image, you'll need to upload the image to the internet. Again, you have a few options here. Probably the easiest -- unless you have your own website or domain -- is to get an account at an image sharing website, like Photobucket ( www.photobucket.com) or Flickr ( www.flickr.com). I personally prefer Flickr, but Photobucket is probably simpler to use. Up to you. Once you've got one of those accounts set up, you need to upload your image file to your account there. They'll have instructions on how to do that on the website itself. Step 3: Posting the image to the forumsOnce you've got your image uploaded to the internet, you'll be able to post it on the forums here. If you're using Photobucket, they'll have some handy-dandy pre-made tags that you can just copy and paste into your forum post as you're writing it. There'll be three choices; the one you want to copy and paste is the one with the square brackets: [ ]. I'm sure there are numerous other ways you could do this, too. This just struck me as the easiest way to go about it. If anyone can think of any simpler alternatives, please post them. I'm by no means as internet-savvy as I pretend to be. Anyway, I hope this helps, Velata! Please post if you run into any problems or you've got questions!

There are scanners on the ground floor in Robarts too =) Otherwise, I used to use a digital camera when I couldn't get a scanner. There's a button on the toolbar of the post reply window on this forum, "insert image". Just put in the internet link of the image you uploaded. Make sure hotlinking is allowed though (some hosting sites like geocities and tripod don't allow it). Here's another crying cat girl ^_^

Greetings:
I need to work on some new sketches so I can have Velata colour them for me.
(grin) I feel like an accomplished artist already... having some one else be the colouring lackey for me.
Kidding!

I wait with bated breath, Velata and Wayne! ;D For Christmas this year I got a sketch pad and a pack of pencil crayons. I hadn't used pencil crayons since grade school until I doodled this the day after New Years. I know it's really basic and I totally screwed up the shadowing effect, but I still kinda like it. I've affectionately named it Solar Eclipse. I really am pretty clueless when it comes to drawing. In fact, until this summer I hadn't attempted to draw anything since grade 9 art class, so I'm really missing some fundamental principles I know. Now that I've started trying to draw, it seems like I have all these ideas for things I want to draw but I can't make any of them come out quite right. Bah. I guess the only thing for it is practice, huh? Anyway, in case hints are needed: I meant for the moon's shadow to be casting the eclipse/pupil onto the Earth/iris. I don't think that aspect came across very well though.

... May I...? I sure hope this works... Speaking of Christmas gifts, Velata received a wonderful tool and a great investment to all who's involved. It's a tablet. This means, Velata's officially entered the realm of digital painting. This is the first fruit. There's another justification for this picture to be here... the original sketch of this picture was done in class... a particularly boring, 2-hour lecture on neuroanatomy. Velata may be a neurologist, but she's terrible as a student trying to stay awake in class... and this is what happened...

Wow you guys have some pretty good stuff Gen: the eye with the moon is pretty cool, where did the inspiration come from, and i wonder what it all means, also i love the doodling in your notes, it makes the notes so much more ALIVE Velata: that's really cool, was that digitally painted in class too, those roses look really nice, and the blending with the colour, cool Here are some doodles during anthropology 204 and economics 200, i would have to say it these pics wouldn;t have been possible without those beautiful ladies in class one of them looks like a real mean b**ch, she looked so cool that i had to draw her, i couldn't resist, she was yelling at me to do it www.pingcity.com/users/shlee/cp/notes/IMG_1917.JPGwww.pingcity.com/users/shlee/cp/notes/IMG_1918.JPGwww.pingcity.com/users/shlee/cp/notes/IMG_1919.JPG
