Since I'm not really familiar with Western music, can't really join in the art and music thread... I only have mostly Asian stuff, and even if it's rock it's probably j-rock or HK stuff ^_^ Anyway, just wanted to share something, just found the Saikano OST today. The anime itself is a love story about a girl turning into a weapon and killing lots of people, so there's emo music and a bit of rock in there ^_^ www.saikano.ru/multimedia.htmlAnd OSTs always make good homework/study music =) Note: I've been listening to Hoshi no Hate for the umpteenth time ^_^ (acoustic guitar solo)

... May I...? Speaking of anime OSTs being good studying music... I agree, as long as I don't have to listen to the opening theme and the closing theme. The words get distracting. However, I did encounter this one specific anime OST where I don't mind listening to the whole album from the beginning to the end. It's the OST to Elfen Lied. The anime itself revolves around members of a new subspecies called the "diclonius", horned humans. To say anything more would ruin the fun, however. Suffice to say, this anime is excessively gory and has a fair amount of nudity. It is excessively and indiscriminately violent. [ Viewer discretion is strongly advised] However, the music for this series is both haunting and soulful. For whomever that's interested, you can listen to (... and download ) the OST here: www.anime-town.com/index.php?sec=modulo/ostI apologise that the website is not in English, but then again, neither is the name "Elfen Lied", hein?

FF songs are amazing indeed~ !! Although I've played very little of the games... I really liked the .hack//Sign OST as well... didn't like the anime too much (bored our anime club back in highschool to death @_@) but the music is awesome! And talking about perfect studying music... Joe Hisaishi's music is great too!! *can never resist piano instrumentals ;D*

Greetings:
I love Joe HIsaishi's music.
Its often the lilting, haunting, emotional ipano solos that gets to me. Some of my favourite peices remain to be Laputa's main theme, "Kaze no Tanzin no Nausicaa", "Futatabi" from Spirited Away, "Ashitaka and San" from Princess Mononoke. I could go on....
I know there had been mixed revues on FF: Advent Children but I recently (very early this morning) acquired the soundtrack and I am in love with it.... I have a soft spot for choral peices.
Highly recommended.

I keep all of Ghibli's soundtracks on my computer too, my favourite ones for study music are Totoro, Spirited Away, Kiki and Whisper of the Heart. Of course the Laputa and Nauscicaa themes are classic, been collecting different versions of their piano scores for ages And I really like Final Fantasy music too, especially the instrumental versions ;D Eyes on Me (FF8) was my first addiction... been trying out 100 no Kotoba (FFX2) on piano for the last few months.

Greetings:
Some of the FF themes that I really liked were Tifa's theme from FFVII. The new rendition of it in FF:AC was great as well. "Eye on me" and the "FFVIII main theme" were good ones. Personal favourite from FFVIII was the nice tune called "Fisherman's Horizon." FF X had great songs like "Someday the Dream will end" and one of my all time favourites "To Zanarkand."
I once heard some one play "To Zanarkand" on a public piano, and I thought to myself : "Oi! I know this music!!" It was great.

... May I...? Speaking of playing anime OST music publically... I think I should share this experience. There is a music store in a mall called Square One in Mississauga. They sell keyboards, pianos, acoustic and electric guitars and some brass and woodwinds. I walked pass the store ond day, and I heard a song called "Piano Bar" from the series Cowboy Bebop. ;D this is probably how I looked like at the moment. I "discreetly" ran into the store, looking for the person behind the "Piano Bar"... and found a pre-recorded song on a keyboard!

Seasons Greetings:
OOHHH!!
I love Cowboy Bebop. Even though many people like HM complain about it being an olde anime, the music lasts forever.
I must thank my sister for getting me the Cowboy Bebop delux "CD Box". Hours and hours of great music.
"Goodnight Julia" remains one of my favourite pieces music in the world.
Happy Christmas, Advent Childhe,

Greetings:
No one posts here anymore.
We are all so studious.
I suggest the Mai-Hime soundtrack to anyone who is out there. It is marvellous, and I have fallen in love with it.
Ah.... love.
What force that drives us all.
