oooh my take on oasis albums:
Definitely Maybe: absolute classic - it's very simple and stripped down but the songs just go straight to the point and that's all you really want sometimes. Live Forever is often referred to as their best song. I personally can't just pick one oasis song but LF left such an impact on me when I first heard it.
Morning Glory - At this point they booted their old drummer for a much better one and overall I just think it's a more creative album. (This is actually the first CD I ever bought - and the songs are just timeless - they are like tunes you felt must have always existed and noel was able to pick them out. Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, the title track, and Champagne Supernova remain their biggest songs... album that defined the britpop sound and I don't think any of their colleagues/contemporaries were able to top it.
Be Here Now - perhaps the most underrated oasis album! people said it sucked just cuz morning glory was so ... glorious and they were expecting something more than was possible. But I think if you put that aside - Be Here Now is pretty solid. More ambitious than their previous albums with 'd'you know what I mean' and 'all around the world' (<-- a little bloated this song...) . Not perhaps as immediately catchy as WTSMG, but I hope I think I know, girl in the dirty shirt - great songs!
Masterplan - like Amit said - this album is fabulous! Aquiesce, the Masterplan (noel's fave song), underneath the sky .... headshrinker - I don't believe there is a single song that I don't like on this album. It's ridiculous that it's just a B-sides album. it takes the best of the band - ability to rock out - story telling: express desire to get out of your current situation (common theme in so many oasis songs) - more sentimental songs... and leaves behind crap like Oasis' ability to get too syrupy.
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants: err.... crap! well maybe I'm being too harsh.... ormaybe I'm not! haha. I do not own this album. so I only know a few tracks and have probably heard the whole album once so I'm probably not the best person to review it.
Heathen Chemistry: BRILLIANT - (liam and noel only remaining original members) - music-wise they've come a looong way from definitely maybe! let's just say that summer my work place had to put in place an oasis quota! (err... they were also oasis fans tho) This album to me signifies what this band is capable of.
Don't believe the truth - ok I already reviewed it above
Lately I have been listening to the Guns n' Roses track Oh My God on loop (when I mean on loop - I mean... ON LOOP hahaha).... floors me. this band continues to floor me. oh and I listened to Sabbath's Paranoid while working on a website design for someone - turned out nicely! can't see the sabbath influence at all.....
