Hi everyone,
This Friday (March 10th) will be the first appearance of the band I play in. The band is called Balisong, and our music captures a variety of genres from the Doors to Oasis (I would say from Abba to Zappa, but then I realize that I would be lying). But more or less I guess it's straight-up rock and roll. It doesn't fit into any particular decade, that's for sure.
I play bass in the group, and I suppose I am one of the co-founders. Some of you may have heard me complain or talk about the drama that has existed over the past year between my bandmates and I -but now it's all built up to this: Our first appearance (hooray!)
I hope at this point in reading this you are as excited as I am while writing this. But if you're not, it's still alright. The details of this fantastic appearance is that we'll be appearing at the MSE Common Room this Friday (March 10th) at around 7:30 (though we'll likely be going on around 8 ish). For those that worry that it might run late, the set will only run about 30-40 minutes. And we'll be likely doing two sets. So you can check out one while you're on a study break... (Though I recommend catching our first set -it will likely be the better one) There is a cost to this, and it's $2. The proceeds of this will be going to CP, thanks to the generosity of the MSE Club Executive and their interest in promoting art on campus.
If someone could bring some magazines to hand out, it would be great. Also it's a cool place to sign people up.
Okay that's it for my pitch. Please tell all your friends that may be interested. Do remind them tho that we aren't professionals, so it will sound "okay" but not "mind blowingly awesome", though I wouldn't rule out any surprises at this point.
I'm kinda zonked right now w/ an unexpected flu (or somethingorother) , otherwise I'd post the poster (if it were finished) and a map. But I'll do that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow..
A.
P.S. For those that witnessed my "singing" during karaoke, I want to assure you that I won't be singing lead this evg... hahaha
